 Sex Pistols flout UK smoking ban. The punk icons were playing at the Brixton Academy when the band lit up several cigarettes on stage, breaking the new law which came into force on 1 July (07), banning smoking in all enclosed public places. Frontman Johnny Rotten told the audience, "I can't believe you lot aren't smoking. What kind of country is this if you can't even have a smoke?"
10,000 March in Paris To Protest 2008 Smoking Ban. The demonstrators want a modification to the decree banning their Gitanes, Gauloises and other brands of tobacco in all cafes, restaurants and nightclubs at the start of 2008 so that smoking rooms with ventilation can be set up in the establishments.

God Forbid Someone Should See a Smoker. Anti-Smoking Advocate Quoted as Saying that It Doesn't Reflect Well on the Community for People to See Smokers. By Michael Siegel. Which I guess is all the more reason to rely upon exaggerating the science beyond recognition, calling on intrusive paternalism, and making the anti-smoking movement into an all-out moral crusade. |
